Poway Parents Network cares about protecting your privacy. This document outlines what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

In short, we only collect the information we need to make the website and emails work smoothly, to verify eligibility, and to improve our services.

We do not sell your information to third parties nor use your information to market third-party services to you.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you join PPN by creating a parent account or registering as a service provider, we ask for certain information to make sure you are eligible and also to create an account for you on the PPN website. The information we request includes but is not limited to:

  • All subscribers: your full name, your email address, the city you live in, a username of your choice, and a password
  • Parents & Guardians: the ages of your children and the city or neighborhood you live in
  • Service Providers: the name of your business, license number, capacity, and a description of your program

When you use PPN, you may voluntary provide information through posts you make on the website or through a Service Profile page. This information may be visible to the public.

Information Your Web Browser Provides

When you access a page on any website, including the PPN website, your Web browser automatically sends information about your browser software, operating system, device, and Internet IP address. The IP address can sometimes be used to approximate your location.

We do not associate this information with your account or the personal information you provide to us. It is stored separately, in log files, and only used in aggregate to understand how visitors and subscribers use the PPN website.

Web Browser "Cookies"

"Cookies" are small packets of data that a website may store in your Web browser when you access a URL (such as a Web page) and may retrieve when you access a subsequent URL on the website.

PPN uses cookies to verify that you have logged in and to keep you logged in as you use the website. This is an industry standard technique.

PPN does not use tracking cookies to monitor what other third-party website you visit on the Web.

The third-party analytics service we use to understand visitor traffic on our website may use cookies to more accurately calculate visits, visitors, sessions, and other information.

How We Use Your Information

Parents & Guardians

Your account email address is used to:

  • Mail PPN newsletters to you (you can opt out of newsletters on your account page)
  • Contact you if PPN moderators have a question about your eligibility

Information you provide in the Verification section of the account registration form is used by moderators to verify your eligibility to use our services.

Service Providers

Your account email address is used to:

  • Mail PPN newsletters to you (you can opt out of newsletters on your account page)
  • Contact you if PPN moderators have a question about your eligibility or your payment

Information you provide in the Business Information section of the service provider registration form is used by moderators to verify your eligibility to use our services.

Information you provide on your Service Profile page is visible to the public and may be used by any visitor to contact you regarding your services, as is the core function of the PPN website.

How We Protect Your Information

We use industry standard encryption between your Web browser and our Web servers when you send us information through our website or when we transmit information back to you through our website.

We use industry standard encryption between our Web server and the servers of third-party services that we rely on, including your newsletter service, email delivery service, and Website analytics service.

We use industry standard encryption to store your password. This limits the chances that your password can be discovered, should our services be hacked. We do not know your password and will never ask you to provide it verbally or via email.

Who We Share Your Information With

If you opt in to receive PPN newsletters, we will share your email and name with our third-party newsletter service. The information is only used for the purposes of sending you newsletters and you can opt out at any time.

As you access pages on our website, your Web browser may send data to our third-party Website analytics service. This data is sent anonymously and is not associated with your personal information.

We do not share your information with any other third parties except when required by law or with your consent.

We do not sell your information to anyone.

How to Opt Out

You may opt out of receiving our email newsletters by editing your account on the PPN website and unchecking the appropriate box.

You may delete your account by request. We may ask for verifying information prior to deleting your account. Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered and you will have to create a new account should you wish to rejoin PPN.
